CSEF, A Way to “Give Back”

CSEF Mission

Over decades, thousands of students have attended public schools in Cody, Wyoming. Deeply appreciative for the education received, the community and its marvelous surroundings, and the friendships formed there, Alumni have found ways to “give back” by initiating projects for the schools and raising the funds needed. Numerous accomplishments have been made thanks to their generosity.

Now, there is a new opportunity to do much more in a ordered way through the Cody Schools Education Foundation, CSEF.

The mission of CSEF is simply to “Enhance the education experience of all Cody school students, from kindergarten through high school, and including recent graduates."

In partnership with other community resources, the Foundation will be helping the school district meet needs and take advantage of new education opportunities.

Every Child Ready for Kindergarten

Research has shown that the most critical years in a child's development are from birth to kindergarten age.  There are high quality preschools in the Cody area but not all children have that opportunity. Children entering kindergarten  without that learning experience  are often not as well prepared and have the challenge of trying to catch up.  CSEF is interested in providing community education/workshops and resource materials to parents  and caregivers with the purpose of helping more children be better prepared for kindergarten.

Classroom to Careers Initiative

Leaders and students at the eight District 6 schools are developing plans for “flagship” projects at every school to support this district initiative. Classrooms to Careers requires adding active learning spaces and equipment that connect directly to career possibilities in the Cody area including technology, construction, agriculture, health care, and hospitality. CSEF’s major focus now is supporting the facility and equipment upgrades necessary to support Classrooms to Careers.

Cody Middle School & Cody Regional Health - Classroom To Careers Program

Cody Middle School (CMS) and Cody Regional Health (CRH) started a unique educational collaboration and initiative, the “Classroom to Careers Program”, to provide students with valuable insights into the world of healthcare and various related fields. By offering students access to professionals from various hospital departments, including clinical and non-clinical areas such as administration, marketing, and support services, the program strives to inspire and prepare the future workforce in healthcare.

Cody Middle School Innovation Center

This “flagship” project is part of the District 6 Classroom to Careers initiative. It involves converting existing space to new technology-focused uses. Students will engage in authentic learning experiences in fields such as Fashion Design, Drone Engineering, Video Production, Introduction to CAD Applications, Introduction to Immersive Technology, and Digital Music Production. Subjects to be taught are chosen based on student interest and on career possibilities in the Cody area.

"The Cody Schools Education Foundation's unwavering dedication, support, and commitment to sustaining career readiness in the Park 6 Schools are creating lasting impacts. Through their efforts, scholars are gaining access to innovative, active learning spaces where they can explore, grow as critical thinkers, and prepare for successful careers.

CSEF’s belief in the Park 6 Classroom 2 Careers program supporting a pipeline of talent for the Cody community has fortified an ever-lasting partnership with area business leaders and the young people of Cody."

— Vernon Orndorff,

Superintendent, Park County School District 6 and CSEF Board Member
